PPHN Objectives

The participant will be able to:

1. Define PPHN.
2. Identify the normal fetal shunts.
3. Identify possible causes of primary PPHN.
4. Identify possible causes of secondary PPHN.
5. Identifyi the signs of PPHN.
6. Describe the test used to positively diagnose PPHN.
7. Identify the arterial blood gases associated with PPHN.
8. Describe the abnormalities found in chest x-rays (CXR) associated with PPHN.
9. Identify the sequence of treatments involved with PPHN.
10. Identify the ways in which different treatments help to correct PPHN.
