Program Objective:The overall objective of this program is to prepare nurses and other health professionals and childhood educators with substantive approaches to conducting basic visual assessments and eye examinations for infant to pre-school childhood populations. | DISCLAIMER: The authors and content consultants of this program recognize that vision health professionals are comprised of many specialties and subspecialties, based on educational and experiential preparation and certifications. Nurse practitioners and community-based educators recognize these differences, and also that Kansas and other states have geographic expanses that limit access to care, compounded by a mal-distribution of health care professionals. It is presumed that vision health providers will sometimes refer to the most expedient vision health professional, who in turn will respect, and facilitate appropriate referrals within their discipline. |
