Return to the Orientation

This new course has several unique features including being taught on the Internet by interdisciplinary faculty, with enrollment open to a variety of disciplines. The goal of the course is to evaluate the effectiveness of these instructional components and content on attitudes about psychiatric disabilities and recovery from mental illness.

At the end of the semester you will be mailed two different questionnaires, one about your attitudes and the other on your beliefs about recovery from mental illness. We encourage you to complete these questionnaires and return them in the enclosed envelope. This will take about 15 minutes. The questionnaires will not be opened until after grades are posted. Although your participation in this course evaluation is encouraged, it is optional.

In addition, we will analyze the interactions that occur among students from different disciplines in the online discussion groups. Although this part of the course evaluation is not optional, student identities will be deleted prior to analysis. As a further safeguard, analysis will not be initiated until after the course is complete and grades have been given.

Both of these evaluations are being done to improve the course for future students. We greatly appreciate your assistance.
