The proximal surface of the trapezoid combines
with the trapezium to form a concave surface for articulation with the
convex distal articular surface of the scaphoid. The distal surface is
convex and articulates with the second metacarpal. The medial surface
articulates by a concave facet with the distal part of the capitate. The
lateral surface is slightly convex to articulate with the trapezium.
