Origin: First and Second:  Radial surface of Flexor profundus tendons of index and middle fingers, respectively. Third:  Adjacent sides of Flexor profundus tendons of middle and ring fingers. Fourth:   Adjacent sides of Flexor profundus tendons of ring and little fingers.

Insertion: Into the radial border of the extensor expansion on the dorsum of the respective digits.

Innervation: Nerve to Lumbricals I, II:  Median, C (6), 7, 8, T1. Nerve to Lumbricals III, IV:  Ulnar, C (7), 8, T1.

Action:  Extend the IP joints and simultaneously flex the MCP joints of the second through fifth digits.  The lumbicals also extend the IP joints when the MCP joints are extended.
