1. MyaGrace's family is very informed about Early Intervention Process. What other considerations might you need to make if her family were uninformed about the early intervention services and process?

When a family is unfamiliar with early intervention services, it is important to provide lots of explanations about what will be happening, and how to access the services and professionals needed to address the family's needs. We might have the family talk to other families, or attend support groups, or visit a preschool program to get a picture of the service system. We take responsibility to make sure that the family has an image of the possibilities.

2. Since MyaGrace's family is involved in the service system, there might be a tendency to take their knowledge and skills for granted. What could you do to guard against this occurrence?

We can be sure to check in with the family members to see if they have questions. We can be sure to provide explanations, letting the parents indicate when they dont want more information. WE can give them names and phone numbers of resources just as we would other families.
