Case 2 - Cystic Fibrosis
Family history:
Your patient, Leah, a 27 year-old Caucasian woman, reports that
her sister and brother died from complications associated with
Cystic Fibrosis(CF). Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic condition which
occurs in 1/2500 Caucasian births. Leah does not believe that
anyone else in her extended family was affected with the disease.
Her husband, Dave, does not have a family history of CF. He is
also Caucasian. Leah is 16 weeks pregnant.
