Poster Graphic Quiz

This graphic illustrates the different factors or variables that Cathy Cole (RN student) identified by literature review on factors that impact failure to thrive (problem she wants to study). She observed clinical failure to thrive including symptoms such as poor appetite, weight loss, and hopelessness in ELDERS. Then she reviewed the research literature and found helpful theories to guide her research. She found both Eickson and Antonovsky theory concepts as helpful explanations of her clinical observations. The concepts she believes nurses can use to counter failure the thrive in elders are social support and sense of coherence. She operationally defined these concepts using questionnaires with specific measures. Nurses can intervene in the hopelessness and change this outcome.
