Read all of the study questions.  Select one question from each group of questions to answer.  Type the answer in the box below.

  1. QUANTITATIVE DESIGNS

    1. Describe the difference between true experimental designs and quasi experimental designs.
    2. Define control group in an experimental design.
    3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of survey research.
    4. In the outcome of correlational research the researcher looks at the strength of the relationships between variables. This is accomplished by examining how changes in one variable may affect another variable. This correlation coefficient may be positive or negative and range from -1.00 to +1.00. What would a correlation of -.60 mean?
    5. Comparative studies are often used when human subjects are studied and manipulation of the independent variable is not possible or ethical. Give an example of a retrospective and a prospective study.
  2. QUALITATIVE RESEARCH DESIGNS

    1. Describe the major differences between qualitative and quantitative research.
    2. Reliability and validity of qualitative data are not evaluated the same as for quantitative data. What are the ways to assure proper rigor of a qualitative study?
    3. What is meant by content analysis of the data?
