Directions for Exercise: Prior to threaded discussion on November 9, 2006, read the University of Kansas School of Nursing Philosophy and Conceptual Framework. This pre-reading will facilitate your group exercise work which is outlined below.

    1. What is the major theoretical basis for the conceptual framework of the KU SON?
    2. How are the concepts defined and/or described?
    3. Compare the pictorial model with the descriptions of the 4 components/concepts of the model. Do you believe the model is an accurate depiction of the systems framework and its concepts? Why or why not?
    4. Read the descriptions of each of the horizontal threads of the curriculum. In a theoretical sense, how do the threads contribute to the curriculum?
